Posted on September 29th, 2009 No commentsNYTimes.com: Researchers have discovered that the topography of a desert locust’s wings and the way they twist when flapping are important for the insect’s efficiency as a flier. Compared with flat, stiff wings, they produce about 30 percent more lift for the same effort.
