  • Flash Game: Red Remover

Red Remover. Might as well be nicknamed Time remover.

Red Remover. Might as well be nicknamed Time remover.

In case you have any spare time on your hands that you want to have totally eradicated by a very addictive flash game, may I present: Red Remover by Gaz. All you do is bust the red shapes, keeping the green ones onscreen. But it gets harder and harder, with multiple planes of gravity, and then there’s a second round that’s pretty ridiculous. You can *feel* yourself getting smarter while you play.

Here’s a tip: Look at the name of each level name before you start; it’s helpful and will become even more helpful in the second round. I am proud to say I completed the whole game at par* in “hard” mode, without any hints. I am ashamed to say that I wasted all my spare time for an entire weekend doing so.
Thanks to Emmanuel for the tip.

    * Except Level 44, which I could not complete in less than 2 over par.
But I was below par for two other levels so I’m counting it.

    Level 44 is for jerks

Oh, and here’s another fun flash game – Totem.

  • What is the Large Hadron Collider (LHC)? Rap it to me!

CERN Rap from Will Barras on Vimeo.

Large Hadron Rap packs a punch, take the spacetime to understand a bunch of it and you’ll know a whole bunch’a not too hard and way cool stuff.

Alpinekat is a great singer, Will Barras is a great groover, and the anonymous Back-up Dancers are -well – anonymous.  I can’t dance  ~<:|

  • Physics Library

    1. Fisica “real e deformativa"

  • Plasmonic Laser Heralds New Generation of Computing

Technology Review: Blogs: arXiv blog: Plasmonic Laser Heralds New Generation of Computing

Stockman has an powerful vision for his device:

“One may envision ultrafast nanoplasmonic chips with a high degree of integration where spasers communicate and control each other through their near fields or are connected with nanoplasmonic wires. These can perform ultrafast microprocessor functions.”

  • New inorganic LED’s

ScienceNOW: Imagine cardboard-thin TV screens that stretch across entire walls or portable video screens that can be rolled up when not in use. Those are some of the possible applications for tiny, inorganic light-emitting diodes (LEDs) that researchers have developed. The new LEDs are just as thin as conventional organic LEDs and liquid-crystal displays, but they’re much brighter and more versatile.
