  • Hashem’s mirror

Posted on July 10th, 2009 admin No comments

[Hi folks. I've been at a conference all week, jam packed busy. So I offer something brief here. Hopefully we can build on it over time.]

    יהיויהי

The world is a giant mirror. Society, the earth, our own individual lives…everything in existence is simply a facet of this great reflection.

The exact nature of the mirror itself, who it is that’s actually doing the looking, cannot be put into words.

As long as we sit and wait for someone else to complete, redeem or save the world, the image we see in the mirror will continue to sit, to wait.

It is only when we get up to move that the image in the mirror, whatever Name we give it, too will move.

    Peaceful Sabbath,

    Jonathan

  • Life Is But A Dream: Working Through Daily Illusions

Posted on July 10th, 2009 admin No comments

Dreams pass into the reality of action. From the actions stems the dream again; and this interdependence produces the highest form of living.
    Anais Nin

Most of us are now aware that our dreams, whether we choose to remember them or not, are talking with us through our subconscious mind and at times even the collective Mind.  They give us advice, show us (sometimes quite dramatically) what we need to confront in order to get back on the right personal path, and they suggest solutions to puzzling situations.  The collective Mind may even forewarn us of external worldly events if we are wired to that connection in our sleeping state.   I know many in my personal environment (including myself) who experienced a “911″ sleeping premonition in the week before that tragedy.  My Native American friend saw “two destructive towering clouds or smoke signals” in keeping with her cultural experience. A gentleman I know who is in the military dreamed of “two eagles falling from the sky and growing beastly.”  For me, it was “planes crashing in the East.”  Our dreams allow us to experience things most of us think we could never do in our conscious world such as flying or visiting pleasantly with a departed loved one or winning the Nobel Prize or falling off a steep cliff and surviving.

It has pretty much always been my perception that our dreams activate that part of us that knows that at one time in our distant past, we were able to fly, we were able to speak telepathically with Spirit quite naturally, communicate with animals on our planet big and small, and we knew ourselves as almost immortal.  We were also able to see our situations more clearly and objectively and handle them with a Spiritual understanding we seem to have relegated to the subconscious mind over millenia.  Frightful dreams seem to me to symbolize just how disconnected we have become from what was at one time a perfectly natural Being, and we began to fear the “unknown.”

I often use my conscious daily life as though it was the dream instead.  I will walk the talk of the dream mind and ponder an unusually eventful day by symbolizing all who were involved or objects given/taken as unaware Spiritual messengers.  For example, one day as I was sitting in my van enjoying my lunch on a beautiful spring day, a man suddenly appeared on a nearby street corner and began to walk back and forth in a very limited but quite orchestrated pattern.  Every time he would turn to walk back in his self-limiting space, he would give a specific hand gesture then clap his hands, jump two times, and then shout “Jesus is Christ!”  It seemed obvious to me that the man was mentally challenged.  This pattern went on for at least 30 minutes as I watched in fascination; he never once veered from his walk-turn-clap-jump-Jesus routine.  When I returned to my place of employ, I mentioned this man and his routine to a coworker.  She said something that rather shocked me; “People like that should be locked up or shot.”  It was unbelievable to me that she would react in so cruel and harsh demeanor over an obviously harmless man.

I later viewed this event as though I had dreamed it.  The man became for me a symbol of limitations I was placing on myself in certain life situations.  The harsh statement made by a woman who happened to be disliked by many coworkers became for me a symbol of separation through fear, and the ”Jesus is Christ” was for me a symbol of integration through Christ consciousness/Spirit.  Putting these symbolically into a sort of waking dream and reviewing what had lately been taking place at that time in my personal sphere, I came to understand that I was being called upon, at a time in my life when I was undergoing immense changes in life with family deaths, moving to a new state, and coming to terms with an entirely new life, that I needed to examine the limitations I was placing on myself and begin to allow myself to expand and explore my new situation, embrace it, and integrate it all on a deeper Spiritual level.   I realized that I needed to view the changes I was experiencing as doors to be opened and new ground to be explored and not feared.  I was reminded to trust Spirit/Christ consciousness and to give it the reins.   A positive thing happened that day despite the illusion that it was presented in the form of a “mentally challenged” man and a fearfully harsh coworker.

I would encourage anyone to try this sometime.  From my perspective, our dreams are the “Truth” and our conscious life the illusion anyway.  When conscious life is seen as the illusion, it can be fascinating to unfold self-discovery through that lens.

    Just a thought…

  • Super-Kamiokande como telescopio de neutrinos

Posted on July 10th, 2009 admin No comments

  • Transform a ball into a rock — or make it invisible — using transformation optics

Posted on July 10th, 2009 admin No comments

Science fiction and fantasy tales are full of the ability to “cloak” characters with invisibility. Whether it is a spaceship with a cloaking device, or a young wizard with an invisibility cloak, the interest in rendering someone or something invisible captures our fancy. Scientists have succeeded in creating the illusion of invisibility by bending light around a region for concealment. These types of devices have limitations, however; one of these limitation that the device normally has to be touching the object to be rendered invisible – or in very close proximity.

Instead of bending light, though, what if transformation optics was used to create invisibility – or even give an object the appearance of a completely different object? A team of theorists at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology propose a technique that might be able to accomplish just that, with a remote device. The group’s proposal appears in Physical Review Letters: “Illusion Optics: The Optical Transformation of an Object into Another Object.”

“Right now, invisibility devices bend light, steering it around an object to make it appear transparent, as if it weren’t there,” Che Ting Chan tells PhysOrg.com. Chan is one of the scientists who proposed the idea of a device that would use illusion optics to transform objects within a confined space. “Our proposed device would have special properties. It would employ a type of illusion that makes an object look exactly like another object.”

Metamaterials, which are manmade with special properties, would be used. A “complementary medium” would be employed to optically cancel a specified area. Then, a “restoring medium” would be used to make the cancelled space “reappear” as something else. For invisibility, the restored area would look like air. “If it looks like air,” Chan explains, “then it is transparent. You can see through it. It is like making something invisible.” This method could also, theoretically, be used to “transform” objects. “You could make a ball look like a rock,” Chan says. “You could hide something in plain sight, as something else.”

In addition to transforming the way an object looks to others, this device would have another advantage over current invisibility devices. “You wouldn’t have to need the device to touch the object being hidden,” Chan insists. “You could remotely control a particular area to entirely exclude a specific wave mechanics without having to be as close.”

While the device sounds promising, Chan admits that there are difficulties involved in building such a cloak. “In addition to positive refractive material, which is not a big problem, we would require a negative refractive index.” Positive refractive materials are easily made, but something with a negative refractive index would require special design. “Some sort of structure to create a phase delay would be needed,” Chan says.

  • Bevatron: Atom Smasher Smashed

Posted on July 10th, 2009 admin No comments

The Large Hadron Collider, scheduled to restart in September, is the Bevatron’s really big brother. Bevatron, fortunately, didn’t create any mini dark holes or vacuum bubbles, and thus the universe was able to survive it.

Historic Atom Smasher Reduced to Rubble and Revelry.

What was once the world’s biggest atom smasher will soon be nothing more than a collection of old photos and the dust beneath the next big science machine.

Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory’s Bevatron, built by the Atomic Energy Commission for $9 million in the early ’50s, is slowly being demolished in the hills overlooking San Francisco Bay. In a few years, all traces of it will be gone.

  • Burrito + Particle Accelerator = Delicious Cubed

Posted on July 10th, 2009 admin No comments

One of the first major discoveries has been yielded from the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) in Western Europe. A microwave mechanics burrito was accidentally dropped into the world’s largest particle accelerator, it yielded a burrito substantially better tasting than it was in its previous state according to European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) staff.

Too great a force for this Earth.

    Not just tasty, SUPER tasty.

On the evening of July 8, 2009, Benjamin Irons, one of the janitorial staff originally from England, was taking a dinner break. After microwaving a burrito in the staff break room, he had realized that he mistakenly left one of the particle accelerator’s access hatches open that he was recently cleaning. Although against protocol, he brought his burrito along with him. Just feet away from the hatch, Mr. Irons tripped sending the burrito flying into the air.

“I thought to myself, ’Oh, bloody hell’” said Mr. Irons. “That burrito is heading right for that open hatch!”

What happened next was something he will never forget.

“What happened next, I’ll never forget” confirmed Mr. Irons.

“As the burrito was landing, it was as if bright blue lightning jumped out, and pulled it in! I nearly pissed myself, I did! The burrito was gone. Not a bloody trace!”

    Pushing buttons didn't help.

    Pushing buttons didn't help.

“Then I heard a rumbling – a sound I can’t even describe – shoot off through the tube in the direction the particle stream is meant to shoot! I had to drive about a mile in one of those little carts to see where it was going. When I got to the nexus – the point where the particles are meant to collide – I found the burrito…just floating there emitting this beautiful blue light! It was the most beautiful sight I’ve ever seen.”

“I really don’t know what possessed me to do it, but I reached out to grab it and took a bite. It didn’t harm me or anything. Just the opposite, really. The flavor was overwhelming! I don’t care what you compare it to! Pizza, sex…it was better than any of that. It was bloody Nirvana. As a matter of fact, just talking about it right now…I’ll be right back. I need to change me pants.”

After Mr. Irons explained what had happened, the staff scientists were able to duplicate the effect. “It was like getting a body massage, then having two angels suck you off.” said Dr. Patrick Davies.  All of the other scientists nodded in agreement.

Many are talking about the marketability of this new super-tasty food, and it is rumored that Taco Bell has already expressed interest.

“It was like getting a body massage, then having two angels suck you off.” Dr. Patrick Davies

We had contacted renown astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson for comment.

    DeTyson: renown for his mustache.

Tyson: renown for his mustache, hates Pluto.

“I just think it’s wrong. This thing has been decades in the making…and billions upon billions of dollars later, we’re considering turning it into a burrito machine? We’re trying to further understand our universe here…understand our place in it. You can’t trump all that just because it made something that tastes good. Is no one concerned that these burritos glow? That sounds like bad news to me. It better be one tasty-ass burrito. Somebody better get me one of those. That bitch better be the best damn thing I ever tasted.”-

  • Dancing in the Dark

Posted on July 10th, 2009 admin No comments

In Dancing in the Dark: The “Waltz in Wonder” of Quantum Metaphysics theory, Dr. Ronald Keast examines the exciting and spooky theories about the fundamental nature of reality and truth that have been proposed by the revolutionary science of quantum mechanics.  These quantum theories, which are at the leading edge f contemporary science, propose that at the most elementary, subatomic level–that which underlies and is the foundation of our world, our universe, all that is–reality is radically uncertain.  The certainties of science, which, for all practical purposes, replaced those of religion over two hundred years ago in the West, have been undermined and show to be, at best, inadequate, at worst, erroneous–as have those of common sense.

This has profound metaphysical, philosophical, even theological, not to say scientific, implications.  It means that we do not, and probably cannot, know what reality and truth are, that we are all dancing in the dark; dancing with faith of one kind or another.

Written for a general audience, Dancing in the Dark introduces some of these theories, connects them to their metaphysical and philosophical roots in the West, and to their mystical roots in the East, and emphasizes the value of learning about them–the value and the joy of uncertainty.
